Nothing is gated at the top level, which means you can go into any of the topics listed on this page and explore the content without being a member. You’ll see a lock symbol for any portions within a section that are for members only.
The free content is intended to give a high-level look into the “what” and often the “why” behind various concepts. For some authors this high-level overview may be enough to work from. The members only content is where the guidance lives. The step-by-step instructions, examples, and the how behind the concepts.
The content is organized sequentially, not by whether it’s free content or members only content. So if you come across a members only section, keep exploring! There’s often more to be seen below the locked sections.
I’ve done my best to name the topics and sections as straight-forward as possible, but if you’re ever looking for something specific and can’t find it don’t hesitate to reach out. I’ll either point you towards where to find it or add it to my roster for a future update!
Most topics end with a “Wrap up” section for members which acts as a summary of the topic with the key takeaways and important reminders. All of the Quests for the topic are also gathered together here, and you can use these sections as your action plan and for quick refreshers in the future.
At the bottom of the sidebar in every topic is a submission form where you can leave questions, comments, and feedback at any time. Feel free to use it as often as you like.
There is no “right” order to work through these topics, but they are listed in the order I recommend, especially if you’re a new author, with the exception of the Content Creation Quests (which can be visited and revisited anytime). But if you’re stuck on a particular piece right now, then go ahead and jump into that topic.
Above all else . . . have fun! You’re an author. A storyteller. You’re passionate about your writing, characters, worlds, and creativity. Always keep that at the front of your mind, because at the end of the day that passion and enthusiasm is the one thing that matters most.
