Reader-Centric
Write for the reader who just found you, so they want to explore more.
Any Platform
Works with WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, or whatever you already use.
Words First
Figure out what goes on the page before deciding how it looks.

Your Author Website
Plan your site, write your homepage section by section, and leave with words that give new readers a reason to stay. Whatever platform you build on, you’ll be working from a plan instead of a blank page.
PLAN IT. WRITE IT. GROW IT.
Start with your reader
Your website lets people get to know you. Most of all, it’s for someone who may never have heard of you and is deciding in a few seconds whether to stick around.
This workshop helps you write for that person.
What we’ll cover:
âś“ What your website is for, what makes one effective, and what reader-centric looks like in practice
âś“ Planning and writing your homepage, one section at a time
âś“ Growing your site into a place readers want to come back to
Inside, you’ll get:
âś“ A live 3-hour workshop where you plan and write your homepage, one section at a time
✓ The replay, so you can revisit it or catch up if you can’t make it live
âś“ Lifetime access to the Author Website module from the From Nothing to Ready program
âś“ My Website Planner Workbook to track your ideas and decisions
This is for you if:
âś“ You’re a fiction author and you know you need a website but aren’t sure what to say on it
✓ You’ve opened a website builder and closed the tab more than once
✓ You already have a site but it isn’t bringing readers any closer to your books
âś“ You want your website to be a place readers actually want to visit
✓ You’d like to sort out the words before worrying about the tech
(For help with the technical build, my Weekend Website Bundle walks you through it step by step.)
By the end, you’ll have:
âś“ A clear purpose for your website and what you want readers to do there
✓ A plan for what belongs on your site and what doesn’t
âś“ Homepage copy written in your voice, for your reader
âś“ One clear next step for every reader who lands on your homepage
âś“ Ideas for growing your site alongside your author career
Start Simple
A homepage that says the right things beats a sprawling site you never finish.
Sound Like You
Write copy in your own voice, so visiting your site feels like meeting the author.
Built to Grow
Start with your homepage and expand as you and your readership grow.
The hardest part of an author website happens before you build it
Too many times authors will open a website builder, stare at the placeholder text, and close the tab. Or they fill every page with everything they can think of and end up with a site that has a lot on it and still leaves a reader unsure what to do next.
Both usually come from the same place. Most authors treat their website as somewhere to tell people about themselves, so that’s where they start, and it makes it hard to know what to include. You either freeze or you include everything. When I talk with authors about making their site reader-centric, one of the first things I hear is that a website is supposed to be about the author. And it is, but it’s also for someone who may never have heard of you, who found you through a post or a recommendation, and who is deciding in a few seconds whether to stay.
Visitors will take the time to find information they already want, like your bio, your credentials, or when your next book comes out. However, nobody will take the time to look around for a reason to care. That’s your homepage’s job. It gives a new visitor that reason right away, or at least raises enough curiosity that they want to explore further. Once you write with that person in mind, it gets much easier to see what belongs on the page and what doesn’t.
That’s the part most authors are left to figure out alone. There are plenty of tutorials that walk you through the tech and which buttons to click, including my own Weekend Website Bundle on building an author website with WordPress. But the ins and outs of what actually goes on the page is rarely touched on despite it being the deciding factor as to whether a reader who finds you sticks around, signs up, or leaves. That’s why I’m hosting this intensive workshop, so you can finally know exactly what should and shouldn’t be on your homepage. Hope to see you there!
