Welcome!
Hi, I’m Tanya Joy Morgan. Writer, Educator, Marketing Specialist, Business Strategist, and WordPress Expert.

I help fiction authors attract the right readers without the overwhelm. My mission is to empower authors to build a thriving author business career in a way that aligns with who they are and what works for them.

Over my career, I’ve learned that building a strong marketing ecosystem is critical to achieve the success we define for ourselves. It isn’t just about technology, content creation, or selling; it’s about having the confidence and knowledge to showcase your work authentically. Whether you’re an aspiring author or a seasoned pro, I’m here to help you navigate the marketing and digital landscape with clarity, purpose, and creativity.

All of my materials, guidance, and coaching are shaped around an approach I call Anti-Marketing for Fiction Authors. This doesn’t mean we’re against marketing or that we don’t do marketing… it means we do it differently.

What is Anti-Marketing for Fiction Authors?

Anti-Marketing for Fiction Authors

Most fiction authors don’t just dislike marketing. They despise it. It’s become a shared misery, a collective eye roll, the one topic everyone can agree on: marketing is hard. You’ve tried posting more, doing more, chasing whatever’s supposed to work. And along the way, it left you drained, doubtful, and wondering if it’s all worth it.

You’re not wrong to feel that way. The kind of marketing you’ve been shown isn’t built for fiction authors. It’s built for sales departments and products, not for the kind of shared connection that stories create.

Anti-Marketing isn’t about doing nothing. It’s about doing it differently. It’s about replacing pressure with purpose, trading performance for connection, and building visibility that feels like an extension of your creativity instead of a threat to it.

We’re done playing the algorithm’s game.
We’re here to build meaningful visibility, grounded in real strategy, story, and authenticity.
We’re here to show up honestly, sustainably, and in ways that make us proud of our author presence.

I’m not here to make you love conventional marketing. I’m here to redefine it as the visibility and connection it’s meant to be, in a way that fits who you are as a fiction author… and that’s what you’ll love.

“In the middle of the biggest technical launch of my life Tanya stepped in, calmed my fears, gave me practical steps to get out of the weeds, and reminded me I could do it! A huge part of my success was because she stepped in.”

– Beth K, Founder, Remade

“Before working with Tanya I was lost in the technical jungle of WordPress, HTML, and CSS. Tanya was a dream to work with, even staying up past midnight multiple times to help us finish a project on time. Whether you are a beginner, or just can’t track down that one piece of code that’s causing your page not to display right, Tanya has you covered. She gave my membership site the final polish that made it shine.”

– Michael Kilpatrick, Owner, In The Field Consultants

“Thank you SO much for your commitment and focus on my project. This means the world to me and has the ability to transform my online training programs and increase my impact as an educator.”

Seeing my Home page, and my about me page come to life, as well as my header (with my menu options) and my footer with my social media links. I feel like a pro. Thank you SO much!.

This was sooo overwhelming to start out, but this course has given me hope. And I love the videos and the fact that you allow us to practice. I’m so thankful for this course and the resources you all provide.

~ Daniel C.

The answers were there but the support people, especially Tanya, were the main inspiration.. Knowing the answers can be found makes starting over a few times okay.

~ Leroy C.

I didn’t have the confidence to publish before I had finished products, but this course gave me the push I needed.

~ Daphne

It was a very inspiring learning experience.

The audit’s been really useful, with some good, searching questions that made me consider my approach, priorities and goals. I’ve read a lot about marketing – perhaps too much – over the last year, but your audit certainly gets to the core of what matters. Once I completed the questionnaire, I felt much more positive, so thank you for boosting my confidence.

~ Robert Crouch, Author

“You know LOTS of stuff. You are very smart and have a ton of expertise in your field.”

– Kerry PCoach

“Tanya is a tech wizard! Whenever I’m stuck she’s my Batman to the rescue.”

– Deb G.School Division Employee

I love how you have made the steps so simple to follow. I have read other ‘so-called’ simple stuff that leaves me scratching my head and feeling stupid. You present well.

What Does “Panoptic Foundations” Mean?

The word Panoptic means “seeing the whole at one view.” Think of it as a bird’s eye view perspective. Success starts with understanding the bigger picture while laying a strong foundation for growth.

Your author career is like a house: without a solid foundation, even the most beautiful structure will crumble. Your author career is no different. Panoptic Foundations will help you create the stability and strategy you need to achieve your goals while ensuring the individual pieces and process align with the big picture.

Why the Inukshuk?

An Inukshuk is a guide. It’s a symbol of being on the right path. It represents safety, direction, and community, deeply rooted in Indigenous cultures of the Arctic. For me, it’s also a reflection of my role as an educator and mentor.

When you work with Panoptic Foundations, you can feel confident that you’re on the right path. While the Inukshuk is my logo, I honor its cultural origins and use it as a reminder of my responsibility to guide others with respect, intention, and care.

My journey has been anything but conventional, shaped by decades of experience as an entrepreneur, educator, creative, and writer. Over 30 years, I’ve taught music, horsemanship, business strategy, and technology, helping learners of all ages succeed. This hands-on experience taught me that education is about more than knowledge; it’s about empowerment.

For six impactful years, I worked at Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, supporting and guiding customers while collaborating with developers, designers, and marketers to create accessible, high-quality educational materials. I helped tens of thousands WordPress.com customers through 1:1 workshops, group webinars, courses on website creation, blogging, working with newsletters, creating online courses, and more. My work with solopreneurs and business owners has shown me the value of building a confident, successful online presence.

I’m also a writer. With over a decade of studying the craft and industry of publishing, I understand the unique challenges authors face. This blend of technical, creative, and strategic expertise informs everything I do at Panoptic Foundations.

You may have previously known me as Tanya Jones-Thibodeau, but I’ve recently transitioned to using Tanya Joy Morgan; an evolution that feels deeply connected to my personal and professional journey. Joy and Morgan are meaningful family names that represent strength and legacy, and this change reflects my commitment to moving forward with purpose and authenticity.

What I Value

At the heart of Panoptic Foundations is a belief in empowerment through education. When you understand how something works, you gain the confidence to manage it, and the freedom to create without limitations. I value:

  • Self-reliance: Building your own digital presence fosters pride and ownership.
  • Empowerment: Education gives you the tools to succeed without constant reliance on others.
  • Creativity: Your online presence should reflect you: authentic, unique, and aligned with your goals.
  • Community: Success is amplified when we learn, grow, and share together.

Who I Serve

Panoptic Foundations is for authors who want to take charge of their digital presence. Whether you’re:

  • A fiction author bringing imaginative worlds to life
  • A non-fiction author sharing your expertise
  • An aspiring writer taking your first steps
  • An established author looking to grow your career

I offer tools, guidance, and resources tailored to your unique needs. I also hope to build a thriving community where authors and artists can network, collaborate, and grow together.

My speciality is working with fiction authors specifically. While my philosophies and teachings are beneficial to any type of author, I tailor all of my group materials to the fiction space. 1:1 coaching is available and is where I’m able to pivot concepts to more specifically address some of the unique needs of non-fiction authors.

I take a collaborative and iterative approach to everything I teach. I want to ensure that you are getting what you want and most need from the materials I provide, and that the materials are continually updated to meet the ever-changing digital landscape. Because of this, I’m open to conversations. I want to hear from you to understand what exactly you want help with, so that I can ensure you have the resources you want, while also helping you to fill the gaps with the resources you don’t yet know you need.

How I Can Help You

Through Panoptic Foundations, I offer education, support, coaching, and strategies to help authors build websites and online content that empower their success. I want you to feel confident navigating the digital world, whether you’re learning the basics or refining advanced strategies.

This isn’t just about teaching you the what, it’s about helping you discover the how, so you can turn your goals into reality.

A Personal Note

When I’m not working (though in fairness, it never feels like work to me), you’ll find me lost in a book, plotting stories about elves with issues, or spending time with my family and pets. I believe in the power of connection, whether through stories, communities, or the digital spaces that bring us together.

I’m Tanya Joy Morgan, your guide, and if you’re ready to build a digital presence that supports your dreams, you’re in the right place.

Welcome to Panoptic Foundations.
